This is from an area near the Salt River Cliffs, east of Phoenix, in the Superstition Mountains.  Mark Boedges originally painted this as a demonstration for a workshop in March.  I took a photo of the scene and liked it, so tried my hand at it.  This one is quite a bit different from Mark’s demo painting, but that’s the thing with painting.   As a painter, we can exercise artistic license, which is why ten painters will produce ten different interpretations of the same scene.
